The Refresh Tableau Server Extract plugin allows you to refresh extracts on the Tableau server on demand using Pentaho Data Integration.  This plugin makes it easier to orchestrate adding new data to Tableau extracts.  You are no longer limited to scheduling an extract refresh to occur at particular times, instead you can have Pentaho automatically update the extract at the end of the ETL process or when a new file is received for example.  No more worrying about refreshing the extract if your ETL process ran long and the Tableau extract refresh for today already ran.

Built utilizing the Tableau command line utility, the Refresh Tableau Server Extract plugin requires the Tableau client to be installed on the ETL server and works with PDI 5.0 and above.

The Refresh Tableau Server Extract plugin may be installed using the Pentaho marketplace or downloaded from Github (https://github.com/cdeptula/refreshtableauextract).
